The first symptoms are slow focusing, a need for stronger light and a habit of holding text further away in order to focus when reading.<\/p>\n<p>During the surgery, the non-accommodating natural lens is replaced with a clear acrylic lens. The lens is multifocal, enabling clear sight at different distances without having spectacles. P\u00e5 s\u00e5 s\u00e4tt f\u00e5r vi maximalt n\u00f6jda patienter. Man m\u00e5ste komma ih\u00e5g att man inte med n\u00e5got ingrepp kan \u00e5stadkomma den perfekta syn p\u00e5 l\u00e5ngt och n\u00e4ra h\u00e5ll som en 20-\u00e5ring har, men operation av \u00e5lderssynthet \u00e4r det n\u00e4st b\u00e4sta alternativet. F\u00f6r ett f\u00e5tal, cirka 5 procent, utf\u00f6rs en preciserande behandling med laser. Av hundra opererade patienter skulle cirka 98 procent v\u00e4lja operation av \u00e5lderssynthet p\u00e5 nytt. D\u00e5 \u00e5terst\u00e5r bara n\u00e5gra f\u00e5 som inte fick vad de f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntade sig.
